General information

  • Cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) is a protein involved in "reverse cholesterol transport" and it could play an important role in facilitating the removal of cholesteryl esters from peripheral tissues for transport to the liver or for transfer of cholesterol between plasma lipoprotein particles. [4]
  • Cholesteryl ester transfer protein regulates high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) level, and genetic deficiency causes hyperalphalipoproteinemia (HALP). [5]
