General information

  • UG binds progesterone, polychlorinated biphenyls, and retinols. [1]
  • Uteroglobin represses allergen-induced inflammatory response by blocking PGD2 receptor-mediated functions. [2]
  • UG has potent antiinflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. [1]
  • Homodimeric protein in which the 70 amino acids subunits are connected by two disulfide bonds in an antiparallel orientation. [1]
  • UG shows potent anti-inflammatory activity and inhibitory effects on neutrophil migration, thrombin-induced platelet aggregation, in vitro chemoinvasion, as well as "tumor suppressor"-like effects and other properties. [3]
  • UG is a potent inhibitor of PLA2 activity. [1]
  • Unusually small, spheric uterine secretory molecule without any carbohydrates. [4]

  • Uteroglobin suppresses SCCA gene expression associated with allergic asthma. [9]
  • UG expression is regulated by progestins, glucocorticoids, androgens, prolactin, and most likely other hormones and cytokines. [3]
