General information

  • IL-23 binds to an heterodimeric receptor complex composed of IL12RB1 and IL23R, stimulates memory rather than naive T-cells and promotes production of proinflammatory cytokines. [1]
  • IL-23 is a heterodimeric cytokine that combines the p40 subunit of IL-12 with a specific p19 subunit. [2]
  • Secreted by activated dendritic and phagocytic cells and keratinocytes, also expressed by dermal Langerhans cells (at protein level). [1]
  • IL-23 neutralization protects from Gram-negative endotoxic shock. [2]
