General information

  • Adhesive multimeric glycoprotein that acts as a carrier for coagulation factor VIII (F8) in plasma, promotes platelet adhesion and activation on subendothelial surfaces; defects cause the bleeding disorder von Willebrand disease. [1]
  • P-selectin glycoprotein ligand 1 and beta2-integrins cooperate in the adhesion of leukocytes to von Willebrand factor. [2]
  • Dopamine modulates von Willebrand factor secretion in endothelial cells via D2-D4 receptors. [3]
  • Von Willebrand factor activates endothelial nitric oxide synthase in blood platelets by a glycoprotein Ib-dependent mechanism. [4]
