Details for messenger / hormone: netrin-4

EndoNet ID: ENH00843

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

General information

  • Beta-netrin is homologous to the NH(2) terminus of laminin chain short arms; it contains a laminin-like domain VI and 3.5 laminin EGF repeats and a netrin C domain. Unlike other netrins, this new netrin is more related to the laminin beta chains, thus, its name beta-netrin. [1]
  • Beta-netrin promotes neurite elongation from olfactory bulb explants. [1]
  • Beta-netrin is important in neural, kidney, and vascular development. [1]
  • Netrin-4 promotes cortical axon outgrowth. [2]

Hormone function

  • development and growth
    • environment adaptation

    Chemical classification

    • Netrin-4 contains three known domains: LNT, EGFL and NCT. [2]
