Details for messenger / hormone: angiotensin-(1-7)

EndoNet ID: ENH01063

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

General information

  • Ang-(1-7) acts through the G protein-coupled receptor Mas and stimulates the release of nitric oxide (NO) and prostaglandins causing vasolidatio, inhibition of cell growth, and opposition of AT1R-mediaetd Ang II vasoconstrictor and proliferative effects. [1]
  • It is produced through hydrolysis of Ang II by the ectoenzyme Ang-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), which is present in many organs. [2]
  • Angiotensin-(1-7) plays an important role in the renin-angiotensin system that controls blood pressure and body fluid and electrolyte homeostasis. [1]
