Details for receptor: TLR9

EndoNet ID: ENR00590

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

Synonyms

  • toll-like receptor 9
  • TLR9

General information

  • Plasmacytoid dendritic cells express only TLR7 and high levels of TLR9 mRNA. [1]
  • Participates in the innate immune response to microbial agents. Detects the unmethylated cytidine-phosphate-guanosine (CpG) motivs present in bacterial DNA. Acts via MyD88 and TRAF6, leading to NF-kappa-B activation, cytokine secretion and the inflammatory response. [2]
  • Highly expressed in spleen, lymph node, tonsil and peripheral blood leukocytes, specially in plasmacytoid pre-dendritic cells. Levels are much lower in monocytes and CD11c+ immature dendritic cells. Also detected in lung and liver. [2]

Binding hormones

  • Granulin-1
    • Granulins interact with TLR9. [3]
    • Progranulin is cleaved by elastase to yield discrete fragments in vitro that we also identified as interacting partners of TLR9 by tandem mass spectrometry (MS-MS). [3]
