Details for receptor: TGF-beta type II receptor

EndoNet ID: ENR00835

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

Synonyms

  • TGFbetaR-II
  • TGFR-2
  • TGF-beta type II receptor

General information

  • TGF-beta1 and its receptor (type II) are expressed in human adrenocortical cells. [1]
  • TGF beta type I and II receptors are expressed by endometrial cells and the syncytiotrophoblast of term placenta. [2]
  • Most normal breast epithelia express high levels of TGF-beta-RII. [3]
  • In women, expression of TGF-b1, -b2 and -b3 and the type II receptor occurs in all cell types of the endometrium. [4]
  • Osteoblasts expresses mRNA transcripts of TGF-beta1, TGF-beta2, TGF-beta 3, TGF-beta type I and type II receptors. [5]

Binding hormones

  • TGF-beta 1
  • TGF-beta 2
    • TGF-beta2 has much lower affinity for TbetaRII than TGF-beta1 and -beta3. [6]
  • TGF-beta 3

    Influences

    • positive TGF-beta 1
      • TGF-beta 1 has been shown to decrease TGF-beta 2 and TGF-beta 3 expression while enhancing its own expression. [7]
    • positive LIF
      • TGF-beta1 (from 10–12 to 10–8M ), -beta 2 , -beta 3 and activin A (10–10 and 10–8 M ) increases LIF secretion by human endometrial epithelium cultures. [8]
    • negative interleukin 6
      • TGF-beta 1(from 10ex–12 to 10ex–8 M ), -beta 2 , -beta 3 and activin A(10ex–10 and 10ex–8 M ) reduces IL-6 release by the human endometrial epithelium. [8]
