Details for receptor: vasorin

EndoNet ID: ENR01211

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

General information

  • Vasorin is a typical type I membrane protein, containing tandem arrays of a characteristic leucine-rich repeat motif, an epidermal growth factor-like motif, and a fibronectin type III-like motif at the extracellular domain. [1]
  • Interacts with TGFB1, TGFB2 and TGFB3. [2]
  • Vasorin is a cell-surface glycoprotein which is also expressed as soluble vasorin. [1]
  • Vasorin is a transforming growth factor β-binding protein expressed in vascular smooth muscle cells, and modulates the arterial response to injury in vivo. [1]

    Influences

    • negative TGF-beta 1
      • We found that vasorin directly binds to transforming growth factor (TGF)-β and attenuates TGF-β signaling in vitro. [1]

    Induced phenotypes

    • negative regulation of transforming growth factor beta receptor signaling pathway
      • Vasorin is predominantly expressed in VSMCs and modulates the vascular response to injury, at least in part, by attenuating TGF-β signaling in vivo. [1]
    • Vasorinis predominantly expressed by vascular smooth muscle cells. [1]
