General information

  • Integrin alpha-3/beta-1 is a receptor for fibronectin, laminin, collagen, epiligrin, thrombospondin and CSPG4. Alpha-3/beta-1 may mediate with LGALS3 the stimulation by CSPG4 of endothelial cells migration. [1]

      • Together, podocytes and endothelial cells synthesize the glomerular basement membrane (GBM) and assemble the tri-layered glomerular filtration barrier. Major GBM components, such as laminin alpha5, form a structural framework for glomerular development, and both laminin alpha5 and its receptor alpha3 integrin are required for glomerulogenesis. [2]
