Details for messenger / hormone: Wnt-1

EndoNet ID: ENH00477

To link to the content of EndoNet use the EndoNet ID that is given on the detail pages in the format ENX0000, where X is a place holder for the type of the component (e. g. R for receptor or C for anatomical structure).
As URL for the linking append this ID to the detail page for this type of component.
For an hormone that would be:

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/hormone/ENH00000

It is also possible to use the search of EndoNet to link to the right detail page. The URL should look like

http://endonet.bioinf.med.uni-goettingen.de/search/ENC00000
If the search pattern is unambigious the user is directed to the corresponding detail page.

Synonyms

  • proto-oncogene Int-1 homolog
  • proto-oncogene Wnt-1
  • Wnt-1
  • INT1
  • WNT-1 proto-oncogene protein
  • WNT1
  • wingless-type MMTV integration site family member 1

General information

  • Optimal Wnt signaling also requires association with glycosaminoglycans (e.g. heparin sulfate and chondroitin sulfate) in the extracellular matrix. [1]
  • Wnt-1 plays an important role in the disturbed differentiation and uncontrolled proliferation during oral squamous cell carcinoma carcinogenesis. [2]
  • Wnt proteins are lipid-modified and can act as stem cell growth factors. [3]
  • Member of the Wnt1 class (inducers of secondary body axis in Xenopus), which facilitates Fzd and Lrp interactions and activates the canonical Wnt/beta-catenin pathway. [1]
  • All Wnts contain 23-24 cysteine residues. [1]
  • Wnt1 and Wnt10b prevented adipogenesis of preadipocyte cells. [1]
